Commentaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc. are the work of uninspired men commenting about inspired scripture passages. Such reference books are very useful, but they should always be read carefully with an eye toward skepticism. Never place total confidence in the writings of uninspired men. Verify or disprove what they suggest for yourself, from the Scriptures.
